Sally Larroca

People Photography

Sally's first photo-related memory occurred on her sixth birthday. Her father gave her a simple Kodak camera which sparked a lifelong love of photography. She got serious about photography in college while earning a BFA degree from Southern Methodist University.

When friends began asking for portraits, Sally knew she was on to something. She augmented her natural ability to pose and put people at ease with numerous photo classes and seminars. "I learned that portrait photography is very much a blend of the technical and psychological," says Sally. "You pick up the basics in school, but it's the experience of dealing with different types of people that gives you the confidence to tackle a terrible two-year old, a touchy teenager or a fiesty family group of 24."

Sally's style is easygoing yet focused, a mix of patience and humor that elicits very natural responses...that and an occasional well-placed clown nose! Many of her sittings are done outdoors utilizing local resources such as Turtle Creek, White Rock Lake and the Arboretum. She also enjoys locations personal to the client such as ranch, farm or lake properties and clients' own yards.
